The Dancer's DaughterA Poem by Norma M SuttonLegacyCool dark night Swirling warmly Lit by warm light Emotions torn
Stepping quickly Joyful spirit Rising meekly Do you hear it
Sparks crackle and dance Among the trees she glides All she needs is a chance Shimmy side to side
Hands clap Feet stamp She glows under lighted lamp Their dancing champ
Figure eight Camel walk Entering altered state Letting body talk
Love and loss Ache and weep No man's her boss Though they dream of her in sleep
Unfettered girl child Dancing her fill Bold yet mild Woman still
Under the moon Small child is one Green eyes sparkling soon Watching with longing
She does her best To imitate swirling steps Feeling no rest Until hands reach out and up she steps
