Genetic MemoryA Poem by Norma M Suttonthoughts on passing dreamsWhat pictures do our genes contain Memories of our genetic past Dark cold dreams of a snowy land High mountains and people past Cold and wet sadness remain Faces in shadows stare out at me Broad chest in leather armor remains Etched into my brain Dark eyes, dark hair Language familier but unknown Dying crys following birthing pains Joyful through dying for a new life begins Battle scarred warriors ride in Intrals falling from gapping wounds Riding on adrenaline Whooping in victory as their body is slain Tumbling to the ground still smiling Dead blood scarlet on snow all that remains Other memories more recent Float around in my head Fear and suffering For both strong and weak Running and hiding Fear of being known Betrayal so bitter Driven insane New name is taken New life begun Always fearful For children so young. Hidden identity's Forgotten ways Never thinking that the genes will give light Scores of years later that light will shine Puzzlement bewilderment misunderstood Memories of grandmother's past.
