Grandmother's HandsA Poem by Norma M SuttonreflectionsGrandmother's hands Lined with age Roads of blue Show delicate age
Hands once strong Two teats per hand As black cow she milked Each morning and eve
Hands born of hard work Tears and toil They worked each day In tilling the soil
Hands so strong A farmer's wife was she Grandmother to many Lessons learned at her feet
Today I look close My hands resemble hers Lined with veins Tendons exposed
No cow do I milk twice a day Only lowly goat One teat per hand Amazed at the strength of my Grandmother's hands.
Strive hard to pass on Her lessons well learned And treasured so dear Joy in day to day life
Kiss of the wind Touch of a flower A child's laugh A rain shower
Sorrow and sadness May pass my way But tomorrow Comes another day
And as I milk Each closing day Remember her well In sweet milks smell © 2010 Norma M SuttonReviews
