“You all know what this tree symbol is correct?” Griffin asked looking at the group.
They shook their heads, staring rapturously.
“This symbol is The Tree of Life. It is called many different things in other cultures or religions, but it all boils down to being the Life Tree. From what I have found, while researching the foundations of the knowledge of this Tree, it started as four composite components; Water, Wind, Earth and Fire. All with an opposite imposing component, keeping the balance of good and bad, virtue and sin in line.
“Many scholars believe that the Tree of Knowledge from the Bible originated from the Tree of Life, or at least was a sister tree to it. Going back to the Tree’s origins, I am lead to believe that the four components conjoined slowly and over time until they all merged completely and totally in balance, thus created the Root of Being. Again over time, the Root grew as every soul was born and every soul died. But not everything is good. As Man evolved and began to destroy his neighbors in senseless acts of violence, the Anti-Root of Being came to be, the Bloom of Ruin.
“Soon, as the wars raged all over Earth became more of a routine than a non-existent fear, the Bloom got bigger, and the Root shrank. But somehow in the midst of it all, The Root became the Tree of Life, and the Bloom became the Garden of Demise.” Griffin said slowly, looking rather morose.
“...So...what does all that have to do with us?” Alex asked looking a little skeptically at Griffin, as though he was a little off his gourd.
“Just listen!” Amy growled, thwacking him hard.
Alex winced and was instantly quiet.
Griffin waited for further outbursts before continuing.
“To answer your question Alex...it has almost everything to do with you...with all of you. Now as I was saying...despite the blood spilt on the dirt of Earth that fed the Tree of Life, it flourished but only because of its Guardians, its four loyal followers, Elementalists. To each individual person or being, the Tree bestowed one single element. But technically it was enough to help the Tree in its cycle of growth. The Tree at first, decided that maybe it would be best to let Mankind try to sort out its own problems...but it was not to be..
“Mankind had ultimately decided that attempting peace was not an option...so The Tree recruited the Four. The Four chosen were already set, due to bloodline and coordination with the Element in question. I guess…in short…you four are the next in line to protect the Tree in its time of need.”
Ria stared unblinking at Griffin for a split second, before she cleared her throat.
“…So…we can control the element that are supposed to protect this tree?” She questioned.
Griffin and Melchor nodded in unison.
“Yup.” said Melchor.
     Kelsey shook her head.
“I don’t believe it…that levitating water bottle was a nice trick you guys…but I don’t believe you.”
Griffin nodded slightly looking forlorn.
“I figured you wouldn’t so…I decided to have your parents bring you all here…yes it was my idea.” Griffin added seeing Alex’s shocked and irritated expression.
Amy looked at Griffin a bit confused.
“Why here? What here could make us believe you, not that I don’t already…” She added quickly.
Griffin sighed and snapped his fingers; a long bladed sword appeared in his hands, its blade glowed a pale blue color.
“Our enemy followed me here, just as I had planned…get ready to run if you truly need to, which I doubt…” He said to them before turning towards the stairs.
“My, my, seems you truly were ready for me Griffin…what a shame…and I wanted to surprise you too...” said a soft, feminine voice from the stairs below. Ria and Amy looked at each other for a moment before looking at their other three friends. By now Melchor had backed away from the guard rail, his eyes wide and staring at a particular place over the railing. Following to the place Melchor’s eyes had settled, the four friends’ own eyes widened. Because over the handrail, was a black, hunter green, sapphire blue and violet swirling mass of mist that could only be properly described as a miasma. Then, from the stairs, came a tall woman, with shoulder length, bright auburn hair and malicious looking azure eyes. She wore a tight-fitting pair of black pants and a shoulder-less, long sleeved crimson top, along with a floor length black cloak. In her right hand, she held a wickedly curved black rapier that glinted in even the normal skylight, a nasty blood red.
"Oh my god...who in the hell is that?!" Amy gaped clutching onto Ria's arm tightly. Ria winced a bit and tried to tug away.
"No clue...but she looks lethal...OW! Let go dang you!" Ria growled pulling Amy off and rubbing her bruised arm.
Amy pulled off but hid behind Ria anyways, afraid for herself and her friends. The tall woman made her way towards the group slowly, her ebony bladed sword swaying slightly; eyes locked on Ria. Melchor and Alex both felt the tension coming from the eerie woman, like she was about to strike and they dove at Ria just as the woman also advanced forward and struck Ria. Ria raised her arms in defense, as a bright light enshroud her.
