As Ice Gives to Water

As ice gives to water,
she melts to her tears
a wail escapes her throat
her body quakes
long eyelashes moistened.

She tastes her own saltiness
and sputters
head in her hands
she sobs.

Shell-shocked
weakened
broken
depressed

her child is gone.
