You weren't made to be in the streets

With the needles and the guns

You should be in school right now

With your friends having fun

But instead of here smiling

You're lost somewhere unknown

Somewhere very far away

From the life you've called home

 

I know it's not always easy

I know some days it hurts

But there's people here that love you

More than needles every will

And the people that love you

Are looking everywhere

To bring you home and save you

From the evils out there

 

There's a safer place waiting for you

A bed to keep you warm

The streets are dark and creepy

It's not where you belong

I know you didn't like it there,

But it can't possibly be worse

Than all the dangerous street drugs

And needles that overdoese

 

The place you're at now

Where ever that may be

That's not where the people love you

It's not full of oppertinities

You had so much potential

Please don't throw that away

The trouble here

Can be worked out

If you'll come home to stay

A friend of mine ran away, and this is dedicated to her. She came home a week after she left, and we were all so relieved. It was a miracle to find out she hadn't been doing heroin this time.

It's caring for the person that ran away , but i'm going to point this out right now . Maybe she/he ran away for a reason and they didn't care what was out on the streets. Maybe they didn't know anyone cared and maybe they'd lost faith . I'm just putting it into that perspective for the reason I am a runaway . Just saying . But this is a wonderfully written poem . Very close to heart
