Valentines Day

Valentines Day

A Poem by Amy Beth Storey
"

About being away from my boyfriend on Valentines day last year

"

Its hard to believe that a year ago

We were dating, and far apart.

You were at school,

And I was working.

We couldn't ever get away.

I remember spending my birthday

Without you there to celebrate.

I remember wishing I was there

To be excited that you've grown.

But what I remember the most

Is being apart on Valentines day.

I know it sounds pathetic,

But this is my first relationship

To go through Valentines.

And you weren't even here

To tell me how you love me.

The devistation of waking up

Febuary 14th alone,

Is a numbing feeling itself.

But to see your younger sister

Drop off flowers that you sent,

Was one amazing feeling.

Daisies, my favorite.

Red roses, baby breath

And small pink flowers too.

You picked well.

And even though we were miles apart,

You still managed to tell me

That you love me.

This is a sweet poem of love in spite of separation. Thank you for entering it into the Heart's Apart contest.
