:) I love your thinking here. I can totally see these "gladiators" running and piling up - and for this non-spherical ball -(maybe I am off but I thought that the ball was the "skin" )
Exposing the extravagant and suffocating advertisement that use all their might to achieve what they want.

Having been raised to the level of celebrities, I hope all athletes will also focus on bringing inspiration and becoming great role models instead of all the terrible things that have surfaced nowadays from domestic abuse to Deflategate.

I could not agree more on this one. I hope so too. But money, is a indeed a green eyed monster.
Entrepreneurial conquests
Of the public sheep made.
People are thought of as sheep because we are thought followers but it is more like we are asleep.

We are given the gift to provoke emotion and thought which is why we are the first arrested/executed in a revolution or the first commissioned to create propaganda.
I don't watch foot ball but well said. I feel there is more meaning to this great little write.

I don't fully understand American Football, gladiators is apt and piece of skin is a leather ball. The leather used to be blown up by a sheep's bladder (English soccer is a very old sport). From the soccer it developed into Rugby football from Rugby School at Rugby and them broke into three components: Union, League and American Football.
The 2nd stanza describes the intensity of rehearsed moves very well. The same is now developing in Rugby Union.
Stanza 3 refers to the commercials I guess
and last stanza is about the big money and the sheep (spectators)
I love Rugby Union but hate it when my side loses I am down for days, like today.

Superbowl is like a holiday here....One day, I shall have to capitalize on it... :D
Yeah, that's a pretty good description. I've never really gotten into sports, honestly. Never found them to be all that interesting. And what you describe here is pretty much the reason. lol

I can't believe how caught up people are in the storm enough to collect memorabilia and stuff instead of focusing on real issues in the world and society. I mean, I am into sports myself but not to the point of fanaticism. I guess, subconsciously, people have this need to be part of a tribe and tribalism is strong among sports fans. It all boils down to building connections and belongingness.... and in a society like America's, loneliness is common.
It's true: football is no longer a sport, it's an event where huge companies can advertise. Honestly, I've never been a fan of the sport; not even baseball. Don't really understand them. I'm like most people on the planet; I like futbol! This was very thought provoking. Thanks for sharing. Sorry if my opinion was abrasive.

I used to play soccer myself and have an injured knee to prove it. These days I stick to running. It's an entertainment event for spectators and fans. Sponsors are capitalizing on the following. :D
The poem described the Superbowl. Us in the USA need something to keep our minds busy. Sports is a good release from real life. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
