Blood, Sweat and TearsA Poem by Mimi ChadwickThe days that we missed, looking up at the stars. Now the stars look down at us and laugh. I'm sorry I failed you, but I tried my best...It has been a while since we've drifted apart you say it's alright, but I know it's
really not. there was a time when you used to hold my hand and guide me through the broken paths but now the clock ticks as you crumble down the
drawing room door. I'm sorry I couldn't hold you up, when you were down I'm sorry I couldn't pay your massive debt. Even if I soaked my hair in blood and tears, and break every existing bone that you gifted me long ago, would that pay the loan? I know I've failed you I can see it in the gentle whimpers the damp facade of midnight limping your aged figure. I can feel your whispers in the dark talking to the ghost of the child that you once moulded with your very hands But I've failed you the cage has broken and the pigeon she set flight setting her wings to touch the gentle caress of the clouds. But I've tried enough I've made sacrifices to fix the damp polaroid of me and
you but yet it calls out to me, as if I never tried. how, oh how would I tell you that I could give up my
whole life Leave alone just blood, sweat and tears to keep you happy. Starkling swings, crimson lights, Broken footpaths, your hand in mine. I hold on to your fingers with all my might Leaning onto your form to seek your light I know you expected the world from me And I tried, and yet failed you. but don't keep your warmth away from me anymore, for I can't live without you. © 2021 Mimi Chadwick |
