A poem for introspection for readers. A poem to help readers traverse through their own psyche.
Who am I? Can we even try to fathom the depth of such a question? Who am I? Can one really appreciate the truth?
What if knowing yourself in naught, but a perception? And your true self is hiding behind the mirror. The mirror of self-consciousness that can either hide the blemishes or pronounce them more profoundly. The mirror of self-righteousness that reflects unto its viewer, a hero or a destitute. The mirror of self-indulgence that makes one see oneself fulfilled or ever disappointed.
But what is it we see? Is it the true reflection of ourselves or our ambitions that blind our approach?
Lay it all bare, naked, exposed. Whether ugly or beautiful is not the question.
Watch and observe, Perhaps one can see in the mirror, The silhouette of our innocence calling, at the beauty of a naive child's heart. And the questions it asks out of curiousity, Pure yet deep, Might be the only way to answer, Who am I?
I really enjoyed reading this. I agree that 'Who am I?' is an intriguing question - it makes you wonder if anyone ever truly figures it out. I think people are capable of figuring out what they are meant to do in life, such as careers and achieving goals and having families and so on, but I don't think anyone can ever truly find out what their personality is. Maybe it's possible. I don't know. I love this poem though - it really made me think, and I know it will stay on my mind for a long time, and I believe that is how writing is supposed to make you feel. It's meant to have an impact on you, positive or negative, and make you think about what the writer was trying to get across, and also let you build your own interpretation of it. Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of writing!
