Her Own Enemy

Her Own Enemy

A Poem by Sarah Wlochal

There’s a story in her eyes
As she cries her sorrows out tonight
Fighting a war against herself
The pain she tries to hide.
The world couldn’t care less
She’s lonely and in pain
When nobody else is home
She cuts her wrists in shame.
Her covered up eyes
Hold a truth to be revealed
She wants to feel so alive
From the depths of her broken heart
She doesn’t even mind
Although she’s cried a thousand times
Wants to be somebody else
When her enemy is herself.
