We the MightyA Poem by Saranyachildhood memoriesWe survey the land before us Vast fields, deep valleys, rolling mountains Lush and green, grass glittering with diamonds And we feel the earth shake As black cobra heads punch through the ground Spitting clear venom, across the terrain Signaling the griffins with sapphire feathers. They dodge the crystalline ammunition as they swoop across the valleys and fields Our kingdom retreats Each taking refuge in their hole or burrow But we giants are mighty Manning our battle chariot, glistening Like a rosy pearl, we prepare for battle Heavy armor weighing down our bodies, not our resolve “Charge” I yell as I press down the pedal Of my pink Barbie jeep, knocking helmets And padded knees with my second in command And we ride, slashing wooden swords Through the air, striking down the ferocious Blue jays as they dive for our heads. But we don’t make it through The field of monstrous sprinkler heads Or the wall of suspended hose water Because even giants need a snack time. © 2013 Saranya |
