Old Friend

Old Friend

A Poem by LikeAWritingOne

We were once close
to each others sides,
until that fateful day.

The day you left
for someone else,
the woman you call bae.

You used to laugh
at all my jokes,
but now we are apart.

I now no longer
have a special
place inside your heart.

The warm wind whispers
with my breath
a tear rolls down my cheek

I sit there skipping
broken stones,
down by our favourite creek.

We cherished each others
touch for years,
always talked on the phone.

But now you're gone
and here I sit
legs crossed, and all alone.

Hurts to even read it. Nicely put together.

A very poignant and personal write. To lose a dear friend is often more traumatic than losing a love; a friendship may have lasted many more years than a love that ends. Very nicely done. take care...dan
