Return to NothingA Poem by Swagato Saha
I hold my heart to the mountain blades,
Sensing there not a spying soul, I search thy still, o' stray cascades - Forgotten depths whence verses flow. A lonely cloud drifts to the frosty night, And rains on Nocturnes' wordless gloom; Whilst Summer's forests be burning bright, To Nothingness pass in genteel doom? But I was seized by thus lordly guise, Of glorious returns to Nature surmised, From rungs of master wordsmiths did spring, Metaphors... 'gainst gurgling winds! What gnomic riddles had fallen my ears? Did take me numb with revelation's fear? Of frailty of gestures, of idyllic dreams... Old gravity o' Odes now weightless seems. Then I fixed point 'tween deaths do remain, That dissonate to twin ends at war; O'er senseless silence of World in pain, Where confused folly o' words departs. I hold my heart to the mountain blades, Sensing here not a sentient soul, And trace thy spill of stray cascades - In eternal, unlettered flow. © 2023 Swagato Saha |
