Between Infinities

Between Infinities

A Poem by Swagato Saha

Stray the choices unknown that pass,
Such are dead-ends we don't dignify,
Take to winding ways, care not a pause -
Until on crossroads; why stand by?

Long'd they wait, till to me then revealed,
Thus disguised manifold infinity!
One impossibly stretched as far I'd see,
Midst leaves lay another humbly concealed.

I stared down one to distances it held,
Thrilled at its share of unwieldy bends,
And knew it won't tire to urge me on,
Well-trodden leagues to cold horizon.

Then turned otherwise perhaps to decline;
Till that what in thy blind confines,
With wonder and terror at once did seize!
Rousing, thought I, from an infant's dream.

So it was, withdrawn in unassailed charm -
Old pages passed word of unsolved fate,
And the miles elseway seemed scarce to harm,
Where I've remained in faithful wait...
