Oedipally Yours

Oedipally Yours

A Poem by Swagato Saha

In shadowy streaks long sun grazed grounds, whence petals stray gravitate,
In stoic daydreams and sterling grandeur, so long now she shall wait,
Oh runaway maiden her trail of dead artists, futile frames cleansed in her blonde,
Like eternal beauty dwells eternally lonesome, so you perish abandoned...

They circle us yet towers old and young, whence puritans peer into the grey,
Midst chorus of lessons mumbled in unison, who know better than to disobey,
Shall soft strung verses survive their rationale, and romance dare aspire beyond?
Shall I so endeavour in unsung poetry, of my own should you then respond?

Our feet trace curls in the water still, as she vigils the spirited young,
Regards my words with typical scrutiny, smiles at every slip of the tongue,
How despairing the days die without her teach; she thinks it's flattery sincere,
And my shameless fancies simmer unnamed to the woman I so truly revere!

In sapphire streaks cross the twilight grounds, whence petals stray dissipate,
In incoherence midst careless blushes, I see her withdraw and hesitate,
As I drift stranded in weightless words, like trails of impotent admirers,
For eternal beauty dwells eternally lonesome, unnamed to mortal desires.
