![]() Realer Than ThouA Poem by Swagato SahaHow I envy the canvas that stands stripped and soiled held in his wondrous enigma, The brush suspended awaits his command, the world spellbound in his charisma, Distant obscure the great despot reflects, so gloriously beyond all grasps, As I court my lonesome fear riddled fetishes, reduced to but wanton gasps. Her locks flood my absent minded eye, as she strips bare for the frame, Anxious and ambitious as I once was, restrained for the brush to tame, Her naivety be perhaps a ploy to allure him, her infirmity but sincere dire, Her silence pregnant with regards motherly, were it not for our unfound desire. So he turns to the juxtaposed objects, that shiver naked in the dark, Myself pale and white with an ageing grace, she dusky young and stark, But only so much is revealed in stale daylight, to be captured in cubes overcast, So sublime so spoiled in splendid shades, so consumed in forged contrast! So he frees his wand cross the anemic screen, us distorted to perverse art, Held down by coordinates of contrast, just a moment's defiance apart, So she dare cheat his unwitting eye but I flinch, withdraw from her appeal, Seized by the vigilant gaze mirrored in his frame; "Why yes you are more real..." © 2020 Swagato SahaReviews
