Relax Cool Bar

Relax Cool Bar

A Poem by Srinivas
"

Free Verse

"

Two steps into the shop on Pulla (Reddy) Avenue,

Four four-seater tables, only ten places to sit on,

Sudden flurries of banter interspersed with quiet,

Street talk finds a forum for animated discussion

Clean tiled walls with Arabic script posted on one side

Seconds hand of the quartz clock at the back of the head

in a touch and go movement; seemingly invisible flies

coasting in their skies ! Juice mixer in controlled upheaval,

A man in khaki steps in, lets his guard down; a lady takes the

stool opposite me taking hot sips of tea in quick succession

thanking the table now and then with the thumps of the glass.

The tea master takes commands, the daily business of life !
