Bobby D and Edie

Bobby D and Edie

A Poem by Susan Michelle

cigarette taste

peppermint tongue

and the dark circles

under your eyes.

they make the brown

in your irises more

pronounced, like a

period at the end

of a sentence.

I know you wish

things could change;

it's eating you whole.

keep your hair in your

face and the scarf

around your neck.

you look like

Bob Dylan.

I wish I was Edie.

sad. Sorry. It just made me sad for them. Like looking at a high school friend I once had when I seen him years after school and drugs had destroyed him.
