Argentina and Chile advance to the Quarter Finals after the two final matches in Group C end in draws.
Chile kept their same starting eleven, while Di Maria started on the bench in the top of the table clash.
Eduardo Vargas opened the tale after reaching the save of Charles Aránguiz’s initial shot.
However, in the sixteenth minute, Lautaro Martínez was able to equalise after plenty of pressed attack.
Federico Fazio nearly gave Argentina the lead, only for the header to be saved. The next corner saw Roberto Pereyra hit the woodwork before the ball was cleared.
However, Vargas added a second goal to his and Chile’s tally as they took the lead again, showing vulnerabilities in the Argentinian left back position.
Much of the play took part in the middle of the field, with only Lionel Messi and Martínez having a ping on goal for the rest of the half.
Argentina looked dangerous in the second half, and though Chile had probably the best chance, they could not produce an actual shot.
Argentina’s shots, on the other hand, were blocked time and again. However, Guido Rodríguez managed a shot that missed to the right of goal.
Instead, at the death, substitute Sergio Agüero shot from thirty yards away to wrestle a point from the match.
Vargas had other ideas and nearly scored Chile’s third, only to have it saved. Alexis Sánchez had a free kick, only for it to fly straight to the goalkeeper.
Venezuela 1 Bermuda 1
Bermuda started Cecoy Robinson at right midfield while Junior Moreno needed time on the bench, as well as defender Luis Del Pino.
Salomon Rondón had the first real ping of the match, though the Venezuelans should have had more. Romulo Otero also had a real chance, only to miss to the left of goal. Cristian Cásseres also had a near-goal, but the Bermudan defence thwarted the chance.
Instead, Roberto Rosales scored, reaching the rebounded save off Rondón’s initial shot. The South Americans had the lead right before the break and were determined not to lose it.
The Bermudan goalkeeper kept his side in the match with Otero and Cásseres both having shots in quick succession. Cásseres also had a close shot miss early in the second half, but it was Bermuda who had their backs against the wall and needed to make changes to their game plan.
Whatever they changed worked as they earned a penalty, which Kole Hall coolly slotted home.
The match was even again, and Hall had the chance to take the lead, but was caught between firing and chipping. In the end, the ball flew over the crossbar.
Hall also had a header from a left-wing cross saved in what looked the likeliest to break the deadlock. It was not to be, and neither side advanced to the Quarter Finals.
