Current Men’s World Rankings, January 27th, 2019

Of note:

Ø  Brazil, after defeating Curacao, has snatched first place from Germany.

Ø  Chile has moved above World Cup winners Colombia to 4th

Ø  Mexico is now in the top 10

Ø  Slovenia, despite not qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, still remains highly ranked at 14th

Ø  Netherlands continue to rise in the rankings, now at 11th

Ø  2018 World Cup sides Ecuador, Costa Rica and France are big movers of late. These nations are 16th, 18th and 20th respectively

Ø  The Czech Republic hovers around 22nd

Ø  Ghana and the USA are fighting for 26th place. Only 185 points separate them both.

Ø  Peru has risen to 29th.

Ø  Turkey, after their smashing of Latvia, are now 33rd.

Ø  Lithuania has risen in the rankings to 37th.

Ø  Bahrain’s solid results have lifted them to 39th.

Ø  Saudi Arabia is 43rd.

Ø  The Solomon Islands have dropped to 57th.

Ø  Uruguay is now 42nd, and is set to rise further throughout the year.

Ø  Ireland - 53rd and Paraguay - 54th, continue to rise.

Ø  South Korea has dropped to 61st, below New Zealand (60th).

Ø  Hungary has climbed to 52nd and Romania to 58th.

Ø  Venezuela slot between them in 55th position. They are 3 points behind Paraguay.

Ø  Scotland (72nd) closes the gap to Wales (70th).

Ø  Croatia and Bosnia are both 73rd and 74th respectively.

Ø  Nigeria is in 83rd and will need to rise in the coming months.

Ø  Andorra has reached 84th, Georgia is 85th and Israel is 90th.

Ø  China has dropped down to 108th.

Ø  San Marino’s recent wins mean they are now positioned at 100th. They are less than a point behind Rwanda - the closest gap in rankings. Bahamas (151st) and Cayman Islands (152nd), as well as St Lucia (161st) and Puerto Rico (162nd) also have a gap of less than a point.

Ø  Armenia has lowered in rankings to 116th and Albania to 124th.

Ø  Cape Verde Islands are now 110th and are likely to rise further.

Ø  Thailand (138th) needs some results to come their way, like Haiti (125th).

Ø  Cuba must improve (148th).

Ø  2022 World Cup hosts Qatar sit at 142nd. Qatar’s neighbours, the UAE, have risen to 135th.

Ø  Taiwan has climbed to 145th. The Gambia followed suit and sit at 150th.

Ø  Mauritania’s recent success means they are now 137th. On the other hand, Tanzania has dropped from 166th to 175th.

Ø  Kyrgyzstan’s recent victories mean they are now 153rd.
