Guatemala will find themselves in League B in two years’ time, as no wins have come their way. Colombia, though top, lost away to Venezuela. However, it is Uruguay that will likely challenge the World Cup winners, thanks to that away win over Venezuela and their final two games being at home. Whoever wins between them and Colombia in Match Day 5 will be the frontrunners for making the playoffs.

Ecuador and Argentina traded goals in Match Day 4, leaving Ecuador clear at the top of Group A2 after a three-all draw. Argentina and Jamaica can both catch the Ecuadorians. However, the winless Bolivians look set to be relegated to League B, even though they managed a scoreless away draw against Jamaica.

The Paraguayan tactic of double teaming Bryan Ruiz paid off as he was yellow carded and substituted on the hour mark. Costa Rica still lie in last place and must pull off a solid win over the United States in their next match to have any chance of remaining in League A. Brazil have all but assured progression to the playoffs after Neymar’s goal straight after halftime kept their winning record intact, though Paraguay can mathematically overcome them.

Chile shocked the Mexicans at home, scoring three goals in three minutes (one was in stoppage time) to come from 2-nil down to defeat their rivals. Group A4 also saw a comeback by St Vincent and the Grenadines, also being 2-nil down against Peru and salvaging their first point for the tournament. The Peruvians have not lost a game yet, and with two home games to complete their campaign means they are in the box seat to secure a playoffs placing. However, they must leap over Chile and Mexico, who are their next two opponents. St Vincent and the Grenadines have all but been eliminated from Group A4.

A Serbian away win against Belarus places them in the box seat to take Group B1 and traverse to League A. Their final match is against Finland, who is ahead of the Serbs on goal difference. After this, the fate of their performance lies in already-relegated Belarus winning, or at least drawing, at home against a Finnish side intent on proving their worth against the top European nations.

Burkina Faso is well placed to progress to League B after a solid away win over Liberia. However, Madagascar can mathematically reach first place, and will do everything in their power to do so. Liberia is likely to be relegated to League D, having only won one game thus far.

Africa’s Group C2 is the closest group in all of the Nations League across the globe, with every team on five points after four games. The Central African Republic has the first position based on goals and better ranking, and seems likely to win their home games. The final two Match Days are going to go down to the wire.

The Senegalese team has not lost yet, and do not seem likely to do so. They will be jubilant when they guarantee promotion to League B. Botswana is the only side capable of toppling them. At the other end, eSwatini have only one point to their name, and need to pull off a remarkable win against Botswana or Senegal to have the slightest hope of remaining in League C.

Uganda, having not lost a match yet, is poised ready for promotion to League B, especially after the away win in Zimbabwe. That leaves Zimbabwe and Tanzania, who also lost 2-nil to Mauritius, fighting to stay out of the relegation zone. Tanzania has two home games, whilst Zimbabwe has two away games. Could this fixture be a factor in the outcome?

In the Women’s Nations Cup Qualifiers, Samoa scored twice in the second half to defeat Papua New Guinea. New Caledonia slotted three past the Tahitian defence, whilst New Zealand won 2-nil again, this time against the Cook Islands. Fiji scored two goals in both halves to take care of Tonga.
