Chapter 1 Alive

It had been two days Jay floated on a small barge in the wide ocean. Endless sight of water was all he could see. He was hopeless. His brutish hunger was killing him as he had not had any food or drink since the ship wrecked. He had no idea how and where his companions were. His lips were cracked; his whole body was burning hot. He knew how he was feeling even though he couldn’t move or speak a word. He had to take so much time to blink.

“I don’t wanna die yet. I just wanna live some more. All I need is just a drop of water in my throat” he murmured himself and made his last blink

Jay was about to be conscious again. He heard voices. He focused listening what they were talking. He did not comprehend a word. They were talking in different language, exactly a language he had never been familiar with. All the voices came from all directions; all the voices were girls and women whispering. Then he made effort to open his eyes. He could not see clearly for a moment. Then, he realized he was somewhere else.

“Hello” he greeted girls and women around him in his soft voice. He did not have any reply from them. They kept whispering each other looking suspiciously at him.

“Hi, I’m Jay. I’ve no idea where I am. What is this place?” he began to sit up and looked around. He was on a big stone near the beautiful big lake in which he could see the water was transparently green. He assumed that he was in the garden where there was fresh green grass with colorful little flowers sprawling on it. It was such a beautiful place; a place he had never seen before even in his dream. Finally he realized something and his face brightened with joy. He was alive!!!!

Chapter 2 Papaya Island

He discovered the girls’ face were all round with big flatten ears which were about half-sized of the face. Eyes were grey same as hair. Fresh pink lips were uniformed. Faces were slightly different but the structure was ultimately the same. Their body was chubby and wrapped by a big piece of cloth in different colors but no slippers. He just kept looking each of them and was wondering what kind of people they were. A moment later one of the girl approached holding something. She handed him a cup which was like a coconut shell that was filled with clean green glittering liquid. He took it quickly and poured it all into his mouth. At once he could feel his energy regaining and was able to bear fresh smile.

“Thank you. You saved my life” he said the girl thankfully. The girl smiled. He was shocked by it. Because he could see the girl’s green teeth between the pinkish lips. She looked suddenly awful. But she did not seem to know that. She gestured him to follow her. Girls and women in front of them separated to give them path. He did not see his shadow. He did not see hers too. And checked out the surrounding. That was weird. That place might be the shadowless zone. There was no shadow of anything; people, trees, houses. Then he looked upward. There saw the empty wide sky.

“This totally is a new world. Amazing, I guess….” he whispered himself uncertainly. In that whole place he was the only man who also was about the same age as most of the girls.

He saw many houses which were built neatly and in the same size and design but different in color.  Moreover the trees were also significant because they seemed like somebody had managed them remarkably well to be in the exact same pattern. It all looked like an amazing photograph.

“ummm…. Well well well…. They may all have the same number of leaves as well….” He imagined while staring at the trees. They were all bearing yellow and red apple-like fruits and they looked inviting him to grab. Then he did it without asking anyone for permission. Strangely, before his hand reached a fruit, it dropped straightly into his palm. It was a red one. Girls watched him and smiled uniformly. He smiled them back like a child as well and dug the freshy fruit with his crude teeth.

“I thought they were apples. It’s actually not. Sweet and aromatic, juicy and so fresh. Yummy!!” he announced them with raising voice even though he knew they would not understand but he was pretty sure they would by his happy manner. In return, he tried his best to understand what they were murmuring but there was only one word he could catch up was “Papaya.” “Papaya” he repeated and smiled. And completed with this statement “Papaya Island, this is where I am.”

Chapter 3 Papaya Palace

It was so bewildering to him. The view, the weather, the fruits, flowers and the girls. Everything was just extraordinary. He kept enjoying the fruit he was biting and what he saw on the way.

A grand castle. That was what he saw somewhat differently after a long walk which he felt like being in the video game as everything was identical. It was sliver shiny that he could even saw it’s halo from some distance. As the girl gestured, he entered. Suddenly the door closed and it’s entirely black. He could not see anything. But he could feel some people were around him and staring at him. He was so scared. In a blink, he felt very cold and felt warmness when something approached him and passed by. He got mild fragrance, heard dry little voices here and there. He hopelessly tried to hold something around him in the deep dark. But his hands reached nothing. The voices came louder. The fragrance turned stronger till he could not breathe. He even felt heat from invisible things around him.

“HELP” was his last word and he got over the fear by being fainted and collapsed on the floor.

He heard the girls voices and knew they were all looking at him. And he could feel the light all over him. His eyes opened. He was in the very large cozy bed. Surprisingly, that bed was sank in the green transparent water. He was too. But he did not get wet but the feeling of warmth and comfy.

There were five pretty girls who had secretly named Papaya ladies. They were in Pink, Yellow, Purple, Green and Blue piece of clothes smiling at him. Then the yellow girl offered a fruit shell with full of green liquid in. He gulped it all in two seconds. He felt fresh again. And he smiled shyly.

“hello, my name’s Sarara. You may stay here as long as u want to. We are all visitors too actually. So you can occupy this castle as yours and we will serve you everything you want. But we have to make sure that every time the wind blows we all have to get out of here but not you. That is going to be the sign for us to go to another place” the pink girl explained.

“uh… I don’t really get what you mean” Jay demanded. He put the fruit shell on the teak small table next to his bed.

“well, this place is strange. People speak different dialect unlike us. I am the only one who speaks English like you and I can speak Papaya Language too. Funnily, once I arrived here to Papaya, I have same thoughts and same responses  as yours. And of course, I named them “Papaya” too course that was only the word I could understand” the girl speaking amusingly at Jay. She looked happy as she got someone who has mother language in common. Jay was too.

He smiled and encouraged her to speak up more “well, then what happen next.”

“yeah, as you can see there is no sun or moon or cloud. So there is no day and night. No weather at all. People don’t have anything to know about the time. No watch or clock. But you know they have fixed schedule, everyone!! The same schedule they rotating time by time after coming back from there. We go there when our daily works done and we start our daily works again when we arrive from there” she explained uncertainly.

“where, Sarara?” she pleasantly smiled when her name was called.

“well, I don’t know exactly too. But all I know is to get out of this place one day. I don’t like being here anymore. This is like ET world to me.”

The girls at the back whispered each other in sharp voice. Sarara understood well. Her face changed as if it was time to go for her.

“what’re they saying?” Jay wondered. He looked the girls quickly and turned to Sarara.

“ Alright Jay, I hope there would be more time for us to talk very soon. Be watchful. Do not go and wonder anywhere. This is the safest place for you even though there are some invisible guards here.” She explained. Jay chilled at once. Suddenly the water he was in splashing as if there was something placing on it.

“Oh no… are you going? When are we supposed to meet again. Wait Sarara… wait” his words jumped in rushing way. There was no answer from her. All he had was a lot of questions in his head. He did not want to leave this island yet until he got some answers. He watched the girls back until they disappeared through the wall which has no door like the place he entered before.
