Smile

Smile

A Poem by Suvada

I plastered a smile on my face, even when I knew I wasn’t okay.

But in this society, that’s what us women do, right.

We plastered this stupid looking smile on our face,

Letting the world know that we are the happiest people on Earth.

Then we get home

And we take that smile

Carefully placing it in a box,

Making sure that he doesn’t see,

Making sure that he doesn’t destroy this smile

And we lock it up until we need it again.

Behind these four walls, we show our real emotions, one that no one sees, one that no one understands. And we let all that pain drain out of us, until all we feel is nothing, but emptiness.
