The words you say,

Don't go away,

Not inside my head,

Not since they were said,

They hurt me so deep,

I'm sorry I can't help but weep,

It's not like I try,

This makes a nice statement on the force and consequences that words can have. It's interesting that it sounds to me like the narrator can tolerate the words, bad as they are, that those don't bother him/her, as much as the fear of the other leaving. I would have thought the harsh words would make the narrator want to leave, but this poem opens up a lot of questions about the full details and nature of this relationship that is being discussed. Great poem! Deceptively simple but full of many, many layers of thought. Terrific!

Fear can invoke the darkest thoughts and anxiety at times.

I like the structure of this poem. I would like to challenge you and say try and write this poem without rhyme.

All poets (including myself) have egos and we cling to newly written work. So if this is still a fresh poem, let it "breathe" for a month or so before editing.

Not everyone has the guts to write about the darker stuff, I'm glad you do ;)

Words are powerful. Can make us content or can tear us down to no-where. The poem said a lot in so few words. Nice flow of thoughts led to the strong ending. It seem we hold doubt even when we are swimming in paradise. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
