Fights

Fights

A Poem by Susie Buckmiller

Voices turn from low murmurs to angry shouts.

Happiness in a room is replaced by a

dark cloud of anger.

Tempers flare, egos are bruised, self-esteem is

crushed and happiness turns to dread in a

matter of  minutes.

She's seen it before and a knot of

fear settles in her stomach. She is scared but

must show it. She tries to be brave.

She tries to ignore the yelling but nothing

she does is distracting enough. She knows

it will soon stop but it feels like an

enterinty.

Finally all is quiet again and the night

returns to normal. But what will tomorrow hold

for her? She is in no hurry to know  the answer for it

scares her.
