![]() Chapter 4: Record ShoppingA Chapter by Adele Potter![]() Logan, Zeke, and Spencer waste my time.![]() Still Wednesday, July 3 3:00 PM We just entered Ophelia, which is a fairly small city. You could walk across it in less than two hours. Zeke is at the wheel, so it’ll probably take us about 10 minutes. 3:07 PM …Unless, of course, the guys decide to stop at a record store. Typical. Spencer is the only one that actually owns a record player. It’s in his music room at Thropp Mansion. (Yes, he lives in a mansion. Like Zeke said, Spence is loaded.) Logan and Zeke like the music, but they both stream it from the internet. Zeke gets the records to sell on eBay, and Logan buys them for the style of them. He takes the record out of the cover, and hangs the cover on the wall. Then, he puts the record on a sheet of colored paper, and puts it right below the cover. It looks pretty cool, I guess, but it seems like a waste of money to me. 4:30 PM Finally dragged the guys out of the store. They were reluctant, but I convinced them. (I.e." borrowed the manager’s broom and hit them with it until they left.) “What’d you guys get?” I asked, once we were back in the car. “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” replied Logan. He was in the seat in front of me, so all I could see of him was his mop of black hair (like mine, only mine’s longer and neater), and his ears, three piercings each. “The cover’s… interesting.” “I got some Elvis Presley,” said Zeke, who, unfortunately, was at the wheel. I was (rightfully) terrified for my life. “I’m not into his music, but a lot of people like it.” “Ugh, Zeke, can you please slow down?” said Spencer. “I think I’m gonna be sick.” “Me too,” I agreed. “Please slow down!” “No way,” Zeke smirked. “It’s a free country, I can go as fast as I want.” “…what?” said Logan. “There’s a speed limit law, that doesn’t even make"” There was a bump, and I could tell that we’d hit something. “Look,” said Logan. “Can we at least stop long enough to peel the dead squirrel off the bumper?” “Naaaaahhhh.” I’m not going to survive this trip, am I?
