The Clicker

The Clicker

A Poem by TheSooz

A man controls his brain with a remote.

Flipping through the channels he can never settle.

I make my way in quietly.

I find the past.

His family smiles at me,

But yet, I have never met them…

They fade.

Behind them I dig up compassion.

This too I have never met,

Unfortunately.

I begin to poke and to prod,

Curious,

To find the things a man cares about.

But all too quickly he changes the channel

Frustrated I force myself in farther.

I see myself in the distance,

I begin to run,

To make sure its real.

But before I get there, I see myself fade.

He hits the remote yet again.

Who is she?

I am forced out.

Unwillingly

I would like to find the remote

Perhaps I would hide it and look into his eyes

Fill his vision.

Knowing he can could never change the channel on me again,

This is the power I long for.

A surrreal journey, it's like the reverse equivalent of playing hard to get, at least that's what it reminds me of. Odd and interesting choice of topic, great ending.
