Empty chariotA Poem by Sushravya (Vidhisha)Empty chariot Golden hue spread in the evening sky; Was charming lad with wench divine. Amid the meadows they rested alive, Where he spake, “Fathomless love maroon, Is my claim towards thy beating vein. I shall never pause rowing the ark, though adrift in tempest dark, If you, my love, be by my side. Diminish I might with sands of time But my love shall never tarnish Even during the rusty climb. I pledge on my royal blood, The one made it virgin wine Shall be guarded from every evil bite And I stand solemn to love my bony lass Even after forever dies. The chariot will bring you to dock. Let’s flee to an unknown land, Far away, into the sunlight And oh my lady, Do me the honour of being my bride”.
That silver night beneath the moon light Lass whispered to her soul saying, “I shall walk down the aisle to be his bride, Above the carpet of ecstasy, below the canopy of love And be his lady love in a castle hive. Stay indulge: in those caress eyes and In warmth of his flawless embrace is all I ask. Thus my last breath, be in his arms! Then what, in whose arms’ was my first breath! Those arms laid me safe at her cozy chest, Though blanket of stars stretched above her head. And sailed the ferry of my dreams, Letting her own drown in deeps. Now I stand here, imbue with claret passion for my man And embellished with ivory affinity for my mum. Thus to know, the last presence of either of the one Shall come, with breaking dawn of the sun.
Hooves halting at the harbour, Gave a ring of bliss to the prince lifting the anchor; In early rays, opened the window pane And there he stood with nothing But an empty chariot in rain.
