History of Heroes

History of Heroes

A Poem by sushi

He stands at the border
brave during the rain and snow
guards the Nation; his home.
Heroes are for real,
but comes to light,
when he turns no-more.
For it's no fairy tale
it's reality
where selfishness come in front-page
and heroes in the obituary.

Yes isn't Nationalism an oddity? Heroes for what cause? What is indeed worth dying for. This poem made me think. That's what literature is for at times, after all!

a wonderful tribute to those unsung heroes who sheild us with their iron heart. i like the satire in the end.

Nice work...selflessness is hardly ever rewarded.

spell check - ' for it's no fairy tail' should be ' for it's no fairy TALE'.

Very provocative, but the last two lines need reworking.Selfish should be selfishness, and at should be in.

I really like the message that you were trying to send us, even though the piece itself was a little bit rough. One little mistake though. In the line 'For it's no fairy tail', it should be 'tale' instead of 'tail'. A simple mistake though. With a little bit of editing, this will be a amazing piece. Thank you for writing!

I agree! Heroes should be up front, and those scandalous trashy articles should not be in at all!
