Borrowed Time - Stolen Moments

Borrowed Time - Stolen Moments

A Poem by Ambrosia
"

Written for a guy I was dating who just wanted to be 'friends' because he felt there was someone else out there better than me. Actually written as song lyrics, but never put to music.

"
Borrowed Time
I saw your smile way back when.
Your eyes a sea of green.
A ring upon your finger then.
You were someone else's dream.
Now your life's been rearranged.
She's gone and left you here.
Time goes by, how things have changed.
Our closeness becomes clear.
**Borrowed time, Stolen moments
We're just friends, I do not love you.
We're moving too fast, please don't regret it.
Borrowed time, Stolen moments
You're not mine, I will not forget it.
Together now we grow and share
each day more and more.
We began to trust, began to share
Your friends are not quite sure.
There's a sea out there, full of fishes
at least that's what they say.
Date a 'shark' or two, make some wishes
tell that girl to back away.
**Borrowed time, Stolen moments
I do not love you, there's no 'spark'
I want to see what's out there, and maybe get it.
Borrowed time, Stolen moments
You're not mine, I will not forget it.
This is the way it has to be
Friends forever my dear Sue.
I've got to go explore the sea
my good friend through and through.
In your arms I lie at night
and wait with baited breath.
For someone to fall in your sight
stolen moments end in death.
**Borrowed time, Stolen moments
I really missed you, want to kiss you
But I will date others, our closeness "forget it"
Borrowed time, Stolen moments
How many times, before I regret it?

Nice structure to this poem. Also moving sentiment. I would have liked to see more specific details regarding time spent with this special someone. Just so that the reader can more directly feel what you feel. Sometimes a strict rhyming sceme can inhibit specific real expression. Hard balance to strike. Thanks for the read. I enjoyed it..thanks for the read

This is pretty good, too!

The impression I get from this really clicks. The wanting of what you cannot have and the knowing that you will move on, but will you ever find someone that completes you the same way? I loved this, and am excited and happy to have discovered your works. Good Job :)
