It's so nice that you have befriended us

In our time of need

Given something beyond expectation

And patience as well.

 

Too bad that we're so different

Not everyone is sensitive

To stress, yelling and criticism

You're lucky you are not.

 

But please don't judge me

When I stagger under burdens

That you think are nothing heavy

Not all of us are so resilient.

 

I expect no sympathy

I know you too well now;

How do I ask for understanding

From such an alien heart?

It's odd how some people see things from a point of view that seems vacant or void of understanding compared to our views. It makes you wonder if they really understand the gravity of the situations our experiencing or if they're just trying to calm you down and manipulate their own assessments on you. Perhaps this doesn't make sense. haha Well, anyway, you know what I mean. Good poem.

I know it's kind of off-the-cuff and about a relationship not normally addressed in poetry - that sort of acquaintance who is great, but just so different that you barely speak the same language.
