Unveiling

Unveiling

A Poem by Susanna F
"

For my love.

"

You were the first to see me

Allowing me a freshening disrobing

Mask pushed aside, but after so long,

How much is revealed?

Not everything underneath

Is what a lover wants to see

The shadow side will never be

Completely out of sight

But together we shine brighter

In our private universe

Built of memories and care

Where no one else intrudes

There ‘forever’ glitters within reach

We share a secret laugh

And raise our masks before the world.

This reminds me of my latest poem; Muse.
You really are an talented poet and it's always a treat reading your poems.
There's just this line that seemed.... odd. "Built of memories and care." Care is the word that stuck out.

Great beginning and stunning conclusion.
Thank you for sharing!

An almost celebratory secret can sit within two who care about each other. That's what makes love special sometimes. Like gifts for the other only they can open. Being behind those masks can be fun when we know that later, that special someone will be helping to take it off. A fun and metaphorical read Susanna.

It appears that both you and he
were able to see. You could not
only see the blemshes, but you loved
and understood the marks on your
souls. Bravo .

You show us both the beauty of two becoming one... and the shadows within that are never quite brought to light... that linger ever out of reach... Beautifully bittersweet.
