![]() MasqueradeA Poem by Susanna F![]() Just a feeling.![]() Masquerade Covering this face with a front of normality Under the day-star, at work and chores No one sees the feather-flash of colors underneath Are those faces what they seem, No passion flare or dark glimmering? Do they languor in their night dreams That other life, my paragon of wonder, Or are they of this world’s stone? I pry at my bone-hard shield, Reveal a flicker of selfness, My love of the mind, ideas, time’s wheel, what if…? Met with stares of incomprehension or disdain. I feel a foreigner among my own race, Free of the shackles of the concrete But lonely behind the façade. I keep watching each person I meet For the feather-flash of jewel colors Are you all behind masks, too? © 2012 Susanna FReviews
