Desert Dreams

Desert Dreams

A Poem by Susanna F
"

My childhood growing up in the Mojave Desert.

"

Do you remember?

I ask myself,

When the stories lived

In the books on my shelf,

When I roamed the desert

And gazed at the night,

When sleep brought adventures

Dreams of delight,

When the summer heat

Was spent with a pen

Writing tales and poems

I read over again,

When pretend games were real

And we traveled the stars

Questing together,

Journeying far?

Sometimes I go back

Into those memories

Of days in the desert

Sun and Joshua trees.

It made me who I am

Creative and free

The desert helped me dream

Of the woman I would be.

Lovely imagery, and you capture a dreamlike and barren beauty of the desert. Lovely work! :)

What wondrous imagery your desert created.. the warmth and harsh beauty that shaped your life and still breathes through you... in your poetic expressions and more. So well done...
