This Love

This Love

A Poem by Susanna F
"

Part Three of Marionetta's Dance

"

I watch you from this curtained frame
A face among a crowd
My motions lose their meaning
I regret what I have vowed.

Manipulator holds me yet
My limbs attached to strings
But curiosity burns fierce
Desire gives me wings.

Could I move for this love?
My fingers start to flex.
Could I break for this love
The enchanter's hex?

Will I dare for this love
Admit to my mistake?
Will I leave for this love,
Now that I'm awake?

You don't even know me
Just a dancer in a play
How could you know my heart breaks
When you pass here every day?

Handsome stranger, do you wonder
If my arms could hold you tight?
Do you guess I'm dreaming of you
Both awake and in the night?

Even if you do not love me
I'll no longer dance for him
This false stage world is crumbling
The brilliance is growing dim.

As my master moves me faster
My determination grows
My heart beats to a rhythm
That I doubt he even knows.

There's no turning back now
I know what I must do
Be it for this love of freedom
Or this burning love for you

If I run for this love
Will it be a dire mistake?
How can I not leave for this love
Now that I'm awake?
