Poison Rain

Poison Rain

A Poem by Susanna F
"

Time to get strong.

"

A salt water rain

Is falling to the earth

To wash away the hurt

To temper this rebirth.

I brought it for the land

I brought it for the past

I thought it was a strength

For when I stand at last.

But what good is a rain

That poisons all my dreams?

Why cry for yesterday

And the tears in the seams?

A salt water rain

Never helped grow a thing

Never got sympathy

Nor could happiness bring.

It's been storming for years

Til my land is near gone

But it's not over yet

The line has been drawn.

Do I stop this salt rain

Or wallow in my fears?

It is time for a change

For, what good are salt tears?
