Secret Garden

Secret Garden

A Poem by Susan
"

A poem about doubt and suspicion about infidelity in a once ideal loving relationship

"
My secret little garden
Always safe and so secure
With bright and fragrant flowers
So innocent and so pure

The sun would shine upon them
Some days would come the rain
Until my world turned upside down
And came the hurricane

I never saw it coming
Not prepared to see the worst
So now my secret garden
Is dying, has been cursed

No I didn't see it coming
Not prepared to feel the pain
My secret little garden
Is now drowning in the rain

I had a little garden
Alive with butterflies and bees
But every inch of stunning beauty
Is languishing with weeds

No more the sun shines brightly
Colour fades to dusty grey
Til the seeds of trust will grow once more
And clouds of doubt all roll away

The imagery is stunning. The beautiful garden symbolizing an ideal loving relationship and a hurricane representing doubts and infidelity is very clever. I like the ending because it's realistically positive. Great write.
