Joy's Waking Song

Each moment's rising woes belong

beneath a fleeting starlit night;

in you, I hear joy's waking song …

dire darkness withers far from sight.

What magic lies within your soul,

dares harness this unquiet mind?

A patient sculptor melding whole,

unveiling wonders -- redefined.

Like holy water 'pon my skin,

your gently-cleansing touches, rain.

All worries fade away … wherein,

love chimes in echoing sustain.

In you, I've found my hiding place;

its restful haven shelters me.

As morning's sun reveals true grace,

lone sparrow's wings soar high 'n free.

How glorious views soon appear,

enlightens wisdom truly told;

Tis looking glass beams brightly clear,

soft teary eyes of speckled gold.

Firstly I'm greeted by the beautiful illustration: a sweep of movement up, up and away! Then your opening words leads this reader's mind and heart into an increasing place of love and hope. As for your use of words and meter, Susan. you've given the senses a precious something that few others could ~ honour to language in Life. This really is a superb, gentle yet, inspiring poem.

No matter how dark our life edging right now, a sunrise is always waiting on our personal horizon. Indeed, every day adds a new chapter of surprises for us with a love adding magic in soothing our soul. Quatrains are among my favorite poetic forms, and yours in romantically-blessed, softly flowing, iambic tetrameter lines, ending in spot-on rhymes, virtually dance upon the page and soar into your readers' minds and hearts … or, into mine, anyway.
Your picture choice simply flows down and throughout each word and line, setting a softly-glowing, beautiful ambiance over the whole.
This could easily be about wonders found with/in a lover, or of a more spiritually religious experience … either way, it's a most masterful work.
