Where Hope Resides

Where Hope Resides

A Poem by Susan 🦋
"

Doubledown Style (Fours 'n Sixes)

"

'Neath open eyes,
deep darkness lies,
and chills my depths of soul.
Entrenched within,
heartache held in--
shall faith my heart console?

Completely lost,
will broken, tossed--
my heart begins to pray.
Arms raised up high,
asked questions why--
concede, and beg your stay.

 Darkness shattered,
Shadows tattered--
black fading, shades to grey.
Grief-soothing peace,
forlornness cease--
clouds waning on this day.

Revealing love
from up above,
true love that holds me tight
now rides with me
when I can't see
my way through darkest night.

Like I was saying in the other review, you have many passions. You've doubledowned on your passionate faith in this one. I like how you resolve the ache in the end with a lift from above.

This is a beacon of light and hope in an oft time lost and seemingly increasingly faithless world; and for me, 'tis a perfect pick me up for these troubled times.

Since lockdown, our congregation shares the sadness of the many who are not able to physically meet together. Earlier in the summer, we were able to attend church and enjoy service in the grounds. But now, with the weather turning and the new rules being put in place, we are being denied even that simple pleasure.

But as the title of your poem says, 'The hope resides,' and all of us prayerfully and confidently look forward to the day when we can all meet together again.

Beccy.

Your chosen picture of that lone, delicate lone flower opens the senses to what's coming, Susan.

' Darkness shattered, Shadows tattered-- black fading, shades to grey.-
Grief-soothing peace, - forlornness cease-- clouds waning on this day. '

You've passed from those dark words to light so bright, you know, as your reviewers know, that there is always that glorious love.. waiting, ready. Beautiful content, written superbly.

i'm a fan Susan .. your intellect, heart and Faith shine in all the poems of yours i have read so far .. smooth and natural creative and original ... your chosen pic painted with your words ... the darkest hours can be terrifying .. paralyzing ... i will never understand how a human being can get through them denying any faith at all ... hope is truly there ... all we have to do is hold with the smallest amount of Faith and the abyss will surely fade to grey .. your inspiring poem is one to take with me today and every day .. thanks so much for sharing your "stuff" right here at the Cafe'

I admire your ability to write in form. I've attempted it only a few times and find it difficult. Your words are perfect here, to me.

Excellent writing, Susan.

sure... here for a bit.
Beautifully rendered, Susan,
Never has this form been more powerfully and appealingly represented than you have in this magical embrace of your mind's, heart's, and emotion's deeply meaningful message of how hope, belief, faith, and willingness to reach out, invite in, harvest, and blend it all into your dreams with the one ingredient that will always make it work ⁓ love.

Never a more perfect meter, rhyme, flow, touching metaphor, and captivating poem have I had the pleasure to read and feel, and what a powerfully meaningful picture, too … KUDOS to You, Dear Master Poetess! ⁓ Richard

Well thank you for your kind words! Bitter cold here in Wisconsin ~ heart warming review.
You are quite the formalist; well done. To my untrained ears it sounds like Hopkins or Herbert.
