Haunted Bear

Haunted Bear

A Poem by Annabel Lee

Set me free, bear!
Get out of my hair!
Singing your sad silent songs,
Reminding me of all my wrongs.

Shut up, toy!
I don't want to think about that boy!
Please just let me go,
Its not all I'll ever know...

I'll burn you, bear.
I'll kill you, I swear.
You'll never talk to me again,
I'll be able to think of other men.

I burnt you bear,
Sent you to a fiery lair.
But why can't I move on?
Why isn't my hate gone?

Come on bear, quit haunting me.
I wish you would stop hunting me.
I dont need you anymore!
So take my baggage out the door!

Okay, now I'm starting to worry.
Get out now, you'd best hurry!
Its making me sick,
Killing me quick!

Oh hello bear.
Now you're gone.
I found someone else, hear?
You can't torture me anymore.
Goodbye bear.

I don't know anything about relationships--literally. And after everything I've read, I think I'm probably better off as a chronic loner. Still, I do like this poem, though. You have a good economy of words going, in time with a beat reminiscent of running a stick along a picket fence. Nice
