Speech to the Misunderstood

Speech to the Misunderstood

A Poem by Annabel Lee

Scream and shout
Play it out
Just don't get too caught up
Love and passion
waves smashing
deep grey skies swallow me up
Uniquity is an unknown word
made-up and unheard
Because nobody can find it
Red or blue hair
Such a scare
to an unchanging realm.
All you have is rhymes,
and even these are crimes,
when they find your poetry book.
Hate yourself and smash your mirror,
maybe then the world will see you clearer?
Smeared makeup is a sign of weakness.
Hate God and pop gum,
all to escape from under their thumb.
Rage ensues.
So, Wear black
Just to get back
at all the things "they've" done.
Is it all in your head?
This desire to go back to bed?
And stay there till apocalypse time?
The world hates us,
Yet they claim to embrace us,
Bitten lips and depression tips?
Love yourself and then you'll see,
That they'll accept what you want to be.
And if they don't, you won't care.
Just save yourself,
Misunderstanding is tough to bear.
