My Sanctuary

My Sanctuary

A Poem by Annabel Lee

In the music.

This is my own private residence.

When life wants to shoot the stars out of my eyes,

Or tear the love from my heart,

I go here-

I leave life behind,

to settle in the dust.

My golden cage,

the lyrics hold fast as iron bars.

My voice is the glue which holds me together,

should I start to crack.

Close my eyes-

Close my mind.

Open my heart-

Open my mouth.

Forgiving-

Forgetting.

Love-

Loss.

All more bearable,

all more palpable.

For this is my sanctuary.
