I Stood ThereA Poem by Tlhookomelo Survival (The Poet) MashileThe writer narrates his emotions and confusion to his friend, about a woman he loves but cannot have. In the first two lines of the first stanza, he finds himself longing for her while sharing a seat.I stood there Not with you but with her I stood there Only to lose myself while trying to find her I knew I had to sit there For I knew I’ll find more reasons why I loved her As I sat there I then realize she’s the reason words propel in my mind in a motion of waves sending destruction signals to my concentration She is… No other reason than she who makes thick blood accelerate faster than light She is the reason my eyes consume much fiery during the combustion of her breath For I now know I’m no mixture but a catalyst for her heart As I stood there Not with her but with you Trying to show you You…. That love do exist Not in the books of Shakespeare But in her I’m here now with you Not as my audience but as a friend To help me unfold these words to her intelligence. By: Ts Mashile
