Girl in Intro

Girl in Intro

A Poem by Tlhookomelo Survival (The Poet) Mashile
"

The writer describes his heartfelt feelings for a classmate crush. These events all take place in a classroom. "Intro" is the name of the course they're enrolled in, which may also mean "first sight".

"
In a crowd there a flower I picked
Was it in the house of Eden or her mother’s I ask?
There her smile I framed
Should it be carried to the future or in the past be left?

Girl in Intro, Girl in Intro
Is it the Tswana accent I need or her voice I ask?
I know my mind is filled with illusions so that I admit
Was the kiss worth or were you too afraid to chase?
Please do not waste my time, either you commit or be mute

Girl in Intro, Girl in Intro
Woke up every morning just to see you in Intro
Was it the long dress I longed to see you in,
Or elegant walk you’d pull with your strides?
Please do not turn me gay
Rather wear short skirts, walk like a lesbian or submit we both stay straight

Girl in Intro, Girl in Intro
Do I need to roll a joint to wish back to the night we stepped in Intro
Girl in Intro, Girl in Intro
Stop these imaginations;
Rather play when I’m gone so we both remain in Intro.
