The Carcass

The Carcass

A Story by Siren
"

my take on an evil queen's ending

"
The flesh hangs limply off her bones.  Having dried up in the desert heat, there was little of her left.  Her soul had passed on to the underworld some time ago.  She was dead.
The wolves and dogs had licked her blood from the ground.  Other human scavengers had picked her bones for the choicest meat, and left the rest for anyone who cared to have a piece of royalty.
After all, she had been a queen.  A rotten one, but a queen nonetheless.  Royalty had a way of falling from grace.  Even David plotted to kill.
The wind picked up, blowing a pattern in the sand.  Only one word was spelled out, as if God Himself had put his finger through the ground.
Jezebel.
