In The Gallows

In The Gallows

A Poem by Siren

Heads loll from
side to side
mocking the life
they once had.

Here hang
thieves and
pirates and
criminals.

Amidst them all
there is no one
innocent or pure;
all are guilty.

Their ghosts rattle
their bones and
sway them in
the night breeze.

Here hang thieves,
traitors, and criminals--
all who met their end
in the gallows.
