They DanceA Poem by Siren
They dance before my eyes--
Jewels are treasured so, All twinkling and aglow. With worth none can know. They dance before my eyes-- Tribal natives appease Men from across the seas gods who demand with ease. They dance before my eyes-- The black and the Jew, Stripped and rights given few, Shivering in early-morning dew. Before my eyes they dance, Pleading for a chance To be as they were made-- Anything they would give or trade.
