From Your Deepest Vice

From Your Deepest Vice

A Story by Siren

You can hide all you want, I will still find you.  You are never far from me, not I from you.  I own you.  I own your soul.  I will consume you, and you will never be free.
It's not so much of a price to pay, really.  You give me your life--all of it--and I will let you die.  You will die so much that it will become familiar to you.  You will like it, you will love it, and you will hate it.  That's just the way these things go, you see.  These things are simple, but never easy.
I know all that you are.  I know all that you are not.  I will use both to torture you.  You will not be free from me.  As much as you hate it, you will come running back to me every time.  I understand you.  I am the old friend.  My arms are always open.  And my touch will ever be that gentle chill you hatefully cherish.  Come now, don't be like that.  Don't fight this.  I'm the only thing you have.

Author's Note

Siren
It starts as a threat, turns conversational, and speaks as an intimate friend. Don't all vices? Read it like a letter. You will know which one has spoken.

This is neat. I haven't read a poem like this. I enjoyed the read, and definitely liked your point of view on the situation at hand. Such a beautifully terrible thing, that sort of relationship.

Chilling!, makes me smile in a strange way XD, i love how the letter goes, how it sadly turns to sentimental feelings,it scares you, and makes you relieved at the same time, Beautiful!

Wow. Amazing. I love that you are literally speaking to us, the reader, or me. The language is great, it's simple with nice flow. The Vice starts out powerful and strong, commanding, we are unable to say anything to defend outselves. By the end he is more gently his power just in the background but just as strong and at this point we don't want to or can no longer defend ourselves. Great, passionate powerful work!
