Shameful Fool

Shameful Fool

A Poem by Siren

I don’t hate you, I just hate who I am

How I push away those who understand

I’m not perfect, never claimed to be

But I’m not any good at being me

How did I get here, so empty, so lost?

Nothing will cover the enormous cost.

I’m finding my comfort in cutting again

I’m acting foolishly and revisiting my sins.

What causes my folly, what causes my shame?

I don’t deserve the grace in Jesus’ name.

So I’ll avoid the truth, I’ll run and hide.

Hoping I won’t bleed to death inside

This tiny room and little space

Where it’s too obvious that I’ve fallen from grace

I won’t ask you to save me, I just want you to hold my hand

Because you, of all people, you really understand.
